  1. Not every Wiccan will subscribe to all of these points, but in
  2. general they are representative.
  3.  
  4. 1.  The divine Spirit is present in all creatures and things:
  5.     people, animals, plants, stones...
  6.  
  7. 2.  The ultimate creative force manifests in both feminine and
  8.     masculine modes; therefore it is often symbolized as the
  9.     Goddess and The God.
  10.  
  11. 3.  In some covens, both are celebrated equally.  In others, The
  12.     Goddess is given precedence or even celebrated without
  13.     reference to the God.
  14.  
  15. 4.  All Goddesses and Gods are aspects of The Goddess and The God.
  16.     The aspects most popular in Wicca are the Triple Goddess of
  17.     the Moon (Maiden, Mother and Crone) and the Horned God of
  18.     death and rebirth.

  20. 5.  Reincarnation and karma are valid concepts.  Upon death one
  21.     goes to a state of rest and reflection, and eventually chooses
  22.     where and when s/he will be reborn.
  23.  
  24. 6.  Magic is practiced for positive (helping) purposes: spiritual
  25.     development, healing, guidance, safety, etc.
  26.  
  27. 7.  Rituals are generally performed outdoors when possible, at the
  28.     New and Full Moons, and at eight Sabbat festivals which mark
  29.     the progression of the seasons.
  30.  
  31. 8.  Magic and celebration are performed in small groups, usually
  32.     three to thirteen, called covens.  These are basically
  33.     autonomous. There is no central church authority or hierarchy.

  35. 9.  There is no holy book, or prophet, no equivalent of the Bible
  36.     or Jesus or Mohammed.  Individuals have access to the divine,
  37.     and do not require an intermediary.  Every initiate is
  38.     regarded as a priest/ess.
  39.  
  40. 10. The central ethic is "And ye harm none, do as ye will."
  41.     Whatever energy you send out returns threefold, so it is wise
  42.     to be kind to others.
  43.  
  44. 11. We should live in harmony with the Earth and Nature, and not
  45.     exploit them.
  46.  
  47. 12. Though Wicca is a valid spiritual path, it is not the only
  48.     one.  There is no recruiting, and people should be free to
  49.     choose the path that best fits their needs.
  50.  
  51. 13. The concepts of original sin, sacrifice, redemption,
  52.     confession, the divinity of Jesus, sinfulness of sex,
  53.     Judgment, Heaven and Hell , denigration of women, bodily
  54.     resurrection, and the Bible as divine revelation are not part
  55.     of Wicca.  Neither are Satanism, the Black Mass, desecration
  56.     of cemeteries, the sacrifice of animals, etc.
